Created in response to the theme "Summer" and juried into the Westport Arts Center's Group show, this piece is a lyrical and sensual look at one of the glories of summer, watermelon. Juror: Alexandra Munroe, Ph.D., Senior Curator of Asian Art at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

Ophelia
Video, 2010
Drowning in flowers while a voice over repeats lines from Shakespeare's Hamlet, this work references classical theatre, flower symbolism/imagery, the pre-Raphaelite painting "Ophelia" by John Millais, and funeral wreaths in an attempt to re-imagine the flower in contemporary art.
This piece was created as a response to a call for a new way to look at flowers in art, curated by Terri C. Smith. It premiered at the Housatonic Museum of Art in Bridgeport, CT on June 17.
